She’s still a beauty with a cloud of soft white hair framing a face time has treated kindly. Her generous smile, one of a million or more she gladly gives for free, will draw you in. A lifetime of laugh lines fan out from her sky-blue eyes that twinkle merrily, usually accompanied by a unique laugh you won’t be able to resist.

The package is small. She never reached above four foot-eleven in height, yet her character and spirit tower above the tallest building or the highest tree. The life lessons she taught were burnt into me, if not grudgingly on my part, then through example and osmosis on hers. There’s not a day goes by that I don’t wonder what she’d think if she could see the way she’s influenced my life.

Everybody loves her. I don’t think she knows a stranger. She’s only happy when she has someone to nurture, a book to read, a friend talk to, an adventure to take. Even the tragedies of loss haven’t dampened her love of life and family. She is my Mother and I love her very much.
